** NOTE ** Video appears below.
The Troutbitten Fish and Film series is here.
Fishing is a story. It’s the woods and the water. It’s the trout, and the rivers that draw us streamside. And at its best, good fishing is a mystery to be solved with observation, theory and technique.
The new Fish & Film series from Troutbitten aims to tell that story.
Here’s the trailer for the Fish & Film series. The first Fish & Film Episode publishes Thursday, August 15th, 2024 at 4:30 p.m. Subscribe to the Troutbitten YouTube channel and click the notification bell to follow along.

History and Purpose
For a few years now, Josh Darling and I have been filming the Troutbitten Tips series and the Troutbitten Fly Box for the YouTube channel. And from the beginning, my plan was always to get to this point, where I could start a new series of videos that features first person, point-of-view footage to really show some of the details about the decision we make, about the changes, about water selection, about the process . . . of fishing. This series is the companion footage that puts all of the stuff I show in the Troutbitten Tips series into practice.
It has taken me over two years of learning and preparing to get here, because I always wanted to be able to shoot and edit these myself. I love the process of creating things and sharing them. And video is the ultimate format for blending everything together — for creating, teaching, fishing and capturing what happens on the river, day in and day out.
What About Fish Along?
For a long time I planned to call this the Fish Along series. But none of my friends liked that title, and they talked me out of it. So I’ve chosen Fish and Film. We used that title for two other videos last year. But I changed those to Fishing With Friends, because that’s really what they’re about. And I’m calling this Fish and Film because this is fishing first and then filming.
Composition
The format for this Fish & Film series may change over time — it already has. Originally, I planned for technical videos and not much of what you might call artistic.
But once I started working with the footage, I realized this series will be just like the Troutbitten articles, the podcasts and all our other videos. Because there are two sides to every angler. And because fishing . . . is a story.
You’ll notice many resources dropped into these videos along the way, in the form of podcast, video and article titles from the archives. Troutbitten runs deep. And by using those resources to build a foundation, I can work beyond what I’ve already shared.
The Tips Continue
One more thing . . . my partnership with Josh Darling and Wilds Media isn’t going anywhere. Josh and I are still working together for the Troutbitten Tips series and the Troutbitten Fly Box. If anything, this new series frees us up to create the next new thing.
The Fish & Film series is my own, but Josh and I will continue our partnership for a long, long time.
This is going to be a lot of fun. I hope you’ll follow along.
Fish hard, friends.
